Informal name generated by Genbank. NZ isolates identified as this species fit the D. nobilis compex sensu Gomes et al. 2013 and as D. eres by Udayanga et al. 2014. Diaporthe sp 1, sp. 2. sp.3, sp. 4, and sp. 5 were seperated by ITS sequences; Udayanga et al. note that ITS overestimates species diversity for these Diaporthe spp.
